Jewelry & Watch Photography

Frank Castillo is an image maker and director specializing in timepieces, with selected fine jewelry work. His photography is published in Taschen's Ultimate Collector's Watches, his subjects include the Williamson Pink Star, and since 2023 his work has filled a global watchmaker's Fifth Avenue flagship in New York.

Watches and jewelry present the same core problem in different proportions. Both are small, both are made of surfaces that reflect everything around them, and both are judged by people who know exactly how the object should look. Neither rewards a fast setup.

The Work

    TIMEPIECES

    The centre of the practice. Campaign photography, macro detail and on-figure for watch brands, produced to hold at vitrine and billboard scale. Case finishing, dial texture and applied indices are rendered rather than approximated.

    FINE JEWELRY

    Selected work for jewelry houses, including record-setting stones. Diamonds and colored gemstones lit for how they actually behave, with retouching that preserves the cut rather than smoothing it away.

    MOTION

    Moving image across both categories, directed alongside the stills rather than outsourced. Product films, macro video and social cutdowns that share the lighting and grade of the campaign frames. Broadcast work has aired on NBC.
